Kintsugi // Branded Shoot

I directly collaborated with Chicago-based brand Calamansi Market to design two exclusive nail sets inspired by two traditional Asian practices: Chinese porcelain and the Japanese art of Kintsugi.

The blue-and-white porcelain represents diplomacy and a feeling of being “put together.” The Japanese art of Kintsugi is the act of repairing broken ceramic goods by filling their faults with gold.

In this two-part concept, I wanted to portray the breaking down of status and expectations often placed on women. And in that release, a renewal.

I designed the set, styled and directed the model, and shot the portraits myself.
